Kevin Ryan’s three-year-old was up with the pace for a long time in the Classic and kept on well to be beaten less than four lengths into fifth.

Matt Chapman - I’m not sure about the trip for Juan Elcano but RUSSIAN EMPEROR is a proven stayer for Aidan O’Brien and will take some stopping. He was beaten but far from disgraced in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial.

Trends - The nod goes to BERLIN TANGO. That’s because he has already tasted success over the 1m2f distance of this race, which just tips the balance in his favour.

There’s not a lot in it because Russian Emperor was second over this distance last time so they can fight it out.
