2022-23 NHL Preview: Los Angeles Kings
The Los Angeles Kings finished with 99 points last season. The team's aging core is still performing well. Jonathan Quick, Drew Doughty and Anze Kopitar are turning 37 and 35 this year. Kevin Fiala, who is 30 years old, has been signed by LA.
Anze Kopitar is the player to watch for the Los Angeles Kings in the upcoming NHL season. He had 67 points last season and is expected to have his best season since 2017-18 with Fiala and Kempe as his linemates.
Arthur Kaliyev is the player to watch for the Los Angeles Kings this season. He scored 14 goals and 27 points last season despite playing on the third line with just 12:39 of ice time. Kaliiev should hit 20 goals or more this year and finish with 60 points.
The Kings' playoff chances depend on the development of their veterans and youth. Byfield, Kaliyev and Sean Durzi need to round out their games. Peter Petersen is on his first season of his new contract. Quick had his best season since 2017-18 last season. Los Angeles played some of the best 5-on-5 hockey, but they finished 25th in 5v5 goals.
