2022 Montreal Canadiens Top 25 Under 25: #4 Kaiden Guhle
Montreal Canadiens made Kaiden Guhle their first-round selection in the 2020 NHL Draft. The Prince Albert Raiders traded him to the Edmonton Oil Kings for Carson Latimer, Eric Johnston and four draft picks. Gu hle was named MVP in playoffs. Edmonton finished second in their division and won the Ed Chynoweth Cup as WHL champions.
Every member of the panel, including the community vote, placed Guhle in their top five. Four of them, myself included, saw him as a top-three player under 25 years of age.
Kaiden Guhle is ranked 4th in the Montreal Canadiens Top 25 Under 25.
Guhle is a very good defender. He is big, well-positioned, uses his reach, and can annihilate puck-carriers. His skating is excellent, with a long and smooth stride and better top-end speed. Since being drafted, he has been developing his offensive game. He has a point shot and likes to shoot through traffic.
There are some weaknesses in his game that he has already improved. He struggles with puck movement under pressure. His coaches will need to exercise patience. He has a desire to be better and will improve as he gains experience. The team needs to keep an eye on his development.
Kaiden Guhle is a young defenceman who is expected to be a regular NHLer in the future. He is currently ranked #4 in Montreal Canadiens' Top 25 Under 25 list. His development is going to take time. He will get a chance to prove himself in training camp. If he does well, he could be the first player to play for the Habs for a long time, even if he doesn't make it to the NHL.
