This week NHL teams are organizing rookie tournaments for their young players. The tournaments are mostly running from Sept. 15-19. NHL players are already preparing for the coming season. High-profile prospects are expected to take part in some of the bigger events.  

The Rookie Faceoff is taking place at the TechCU Arena. It's the first major event at this new facility. There are 16 first-round picks on the rosters for the event. Seven of them were top 10 picks. The event will be played at Tech CU Arena, the home of the San Jose Barracuda. There is a lot of star-quality prospects. Six of those players are 2022 Olympians. They are: Mason McTavish, Strauss Mann, Drew Helleson, Brendan Brisson, Nathan Smith, and Ben Meyers.

Quinton Byfield, Mason McTavish, Alex Turcotte, William Eklund, Brandt Clarke, Dylan Guenther, Pavel Mintyukov, Conor Geekie, Brendan Brisson, Justus Annunen, Strauss Mann, Ben Meyers and Strauss Mann are among the prospects expected to compete in the upcoming NHL Rookie Tournaments.

Traverse City is hosting the 22nd NHL Rookie Tournament. Teams from Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, St. Louis Blues, Toronto Maple Leafs, and others are taking part. The tournament is named after Matthew Wuest, a Red Wing blogger who died of cancer in 2015. It will feature a number of high profile prospects, including Kent Johnson, Simon Edvinsson, Kirill Marchenko and Wyatt Johnston.

Kent Johnson, Simon Edvinsson, David Jiricek, Sebastian Cossa, Denton Mateychuk, Zack Bolduc, Tyler Johnston, Wyatt Johnston and Jake Neighbours are among the prospects expected to compete in the upcoming NHL Rookie Tournaments.

The Buffalo Sabres are hosting a rookie tournament. Boston Bruins, Montreal Canadiens, New Jersey Devils, Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins are also participating. The Sabres will not send Owen Power, but they will have Matt Savoie, Isak Rosen, Jiri Kulich, Juraj Slafkovsky, Filip Mesar, Kaiden Guhle and Simon Nemec. Ottawa will also have Jake Sanderson, Shane Pinto and the future No. 2 overall selection Simon Nemec on their roster.

2022 NHL Rookie Tournaments are taking place. Juraj Slafkovsky, Simon Nemec, Jake Sanderson, Matt Savoie, Tyler Boucher, Kaiden Guhle, Samuel Poulin, Fabian Lysell, Owen Pickering, John Beecher, Shane Pinto, Mads Sogaard, Filip Lindberg, and John Saugerten are among the prospects expected to compete.

The Young Stars Classic in Penticton is back after a two-year absence due to coronavirus restrictions in Canada. It features Western Canada's four teams: Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks and Winnipeg Jets.

Philip Broberg, Cole Perfetti, Dylan Holloway, Chaz Lucius, Xavier Bourgault, Connor Zary, Jakob Pelletier, Brad Lambert, Jet Woo, Danila Klimovich, Dustin Wolf and Danilah Krumovich are among the prospects expected to compete in the upcoming NHL Rookie Tournaments.

Carolina Hurricanes, Florida Panthers, Nashville Predators and Tampa Bay Lightning are participating in the Rookie Tournament in Raleigh. The event is going to be interesting as each team looks for their younger players to take a step.  The Nashville Preds have a couple of high-profile prospects that should be among the most widely anticipated for this event.

2022 NHL Rookie Tournaments are taking place. Yaroslav Askarov, Zachary L'Heureux, Ryan Suzuki, Luke Evangelista, Jamieson Rees, Gage Goncalves, Hugo Alnefelt, Justin Sourdif and Justin Gourden are among the prospects expected to compete.

Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild will play in the Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase in Chicago. New York Rangers will take on the Philadelphia Flyers prospects in two games at the 2022 Rookie Series in Allentown, Pa. Seattle Kraken, New Zealand Islanders and Washington Capitals are not scheduled to compete in preseason rookie events this year.
