2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup Group A odds, betting preview

The Netherlands is the top seed in Group A. Senegal won the Africa Cup of Nations last January. Ecuador and Qatar are ranked 44 and 50 in the FIFA Men's World Rankings.

The Netherlands are returning to the 2022 World Cup after missing out on the 2018 edition. They finished as the runner-up in 2010 and third in 2014. Louis van Gaal has some of the most talented young players at his disposal. Memphis Depay is the projected top scorer.

Senegal was eliminated from the 2018 World Cup by FIFA's seventh tiebreaker. This is their third World cup appearance overall. Senegal is favored to be the group runners-up. Sadio Mané is injured.

Enner Valencia is the projected top scorer for Mexico. The team's strength is its defense. They haven't conceded a goal in six games since their 1-1 draw with Argentina in March. Their match against Senegal could decide which of the two countries advances to the knockout stages.

Qatar is the host nation and has done everything to put itself in a great position to advance to the knockout stages. The Maroon most notably competed in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in summer 2021 and finished as semifinalists. Almoez Ali was that tournament's top scorer with four goals. Qatar has tested itself against Croatia, Egypt, Ghana and Portugal.

Qatar and Ecuador are playing in the World Cup on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 10 a.m. CT. Senegal are taking on Netherlands on Monday, November 21 at 9 a.,m., CT and the individual match odds are as follows:
