2022 Week 3 Preview: Buffalo Bulls @ Coastal Carolina Chanticleers

Buffalo Bulls are 0-2 and Coastal Carolina Chanticleers are 2-0. The teams played each other in Upstate New York last September. This time the game will be played at Brooks Stadium in Conway, SC.

Buffalo Bulls lost to Albany on Saturday. The team is off to a bad start in Maurice Linguist's second season. They lost 2-10 in Lance Leipold's first season in charge. Georgia Southern quarterback Kyle Vantrease transferred out of the program this summer. He was replaced by former Rutgers quarterback Cole Snyder.

Buffalo's offensive line has been shaky this season. The team's 90th ranked rushing attack is a concern. On defense, the Bulls must prepare to counter Jamey Chadwell's option-heavy attack. James Patterson and Shaun Dolac are key names to step up on defense. Buffalo has generated only one turnover this year. Coastal Carolina's Grayson McCall has only seven interceptions in 542 attempts.

Coastal Carolina Chanticleers are Sun Belt contenders for 2022. Quarterback Grayson McCall is returning for his third consecutive year as the starter. Reese White and Sam Pinckney are the main skill position players to watch in the offense. True freshman Josaiah Stewart is a dominant edge rusher. He had 13 sacks, 16 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles in his first year out of high school. The team lost three leading receivers from 2021. They are 103rd in FBS. Isaiah Likely is no longer on campus.

Coastal Carolina is favored to beat Buffalo. Coastal Carolina's defensive line is the main advantage. Buffalo's offense is below 100th in both passing and rushing categories. The game is expected to be more lopsided than the 2021 showdown in Buffalo, and Coastal will win.
