Alcaraz has an implied probability of 23.5 percent, while Djokovic has a 47.6 percent chance of winning the 2024 Men’s Australian Open.

In his first tournament of 2024, Djokovic was outworked in a 4-6, 4-6 loss to Alex de Minaur. However, we are confident in saying that Djokovic wasn’t too focused on winning the United Cup. In his final tournament of 2023 at the ATP Finals, Djokovic dominated en route to a championship in Turin, Italy.
Following an impressive win over Alcaraz in the semifinals, 6-3, 6-2, Djokovic defeated hometown favorite Jannik Sinner in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. It was easy work for the Serbian, only weeks after winning the ATP Paris Masters.
Djokovic just isn’t winning in Australia — he’s dominating. Prior to losing to de Minaur, the 36-year-old Serbian was on a 43-match win streak in the country. Is the injury something to be concerned with going into the first round?
He has done this song and dance before. Last year, Djokovic won the 2023 Australian Open despite being hampered by a hamstring tear. Djokovic has emphasized that the wrist injury isn’t a major concern.
Carlos Alcaraz (+325)
With Nadal entering the final stages of his career, the torch has just about been handed off to Alcaraz in Spain. At only 20 years old, Alcaraz has already shown why pundits and fans are so excited about his future.
He won his first major championship at the 2022 U.S. Open, though Djokovic was absent. Many expect it to be his first of several Grand Slam titles.
That said, Alcaraz still has much to learn at the top level of competition. He has complained about cramps caused by nerves in the past. At the 2023 French Open, Alcaraz blamed nerves for his loss to Djokovic.
After Alcaraz gets over playing under the bright lights, he should begin to be more consistent in big matches. Currently, however, Alcaraz hasn’t had the extra gear in him to upstage Djokovic. Nevertheless, this is still an elite player who can win against anyone on a good day.
In 2023, Alcaraz finished with an overall record of 65-12. He was in better form on the grass and clay, though. Alcaraz posted a record of 34-9 on a hard surface, as opposed to 12-0 on grass and 19-3 on clay.
Note that Alcaraz passed on playing a prep tournament before the Australian Open. Having not played since November, we will see if the young Spaniard has any concerns with being rusty.
Australian Open Men’s Final
On Sunday, January 28, the 2024 Australian Open men’s final match will be played in Melbourne. The Australian Open men’s draw will be announced by the end of this week. Predicting the final of the Australian Open will be easier once the draw for the tournament is released.

Djokovic defeated Greek opponent Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets to win the 2023 Men’s Australian Open title. After an easy win in the first set for Djokovic, 6-3, he edged out Tsitsipas in tightly-contested sets for a 6-3, 7-6(4), 7-6(5) win at Melbourne Park.
