Bob Baffert's horses have won a record seven times at the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park. American Pharoah is the first Triple Crown winner in 37 years. Baddert has won about $5 million in purse money. The Haskell increased the purse by $750,000 to a new record $1.75 million.

Baffert has won the Haskell Stakes three times. His best Haskell win was Point Given in 2001. He has also won with War Emblem, Roman Ruler, Lookin At Lucky and Paynter. He tied Hall of Famers Warren Croll and Sonny Hine for most Haskell wins at three. In 2012, Pay nter won despite his owner having a heart attack. It was his first start on a dirt track. The horse developed life-threatening colitis and laminitis. Baffer didn't make it to the race. he was traveling from California.
