Angus Cheleda brought home 10/1 chance Hacker Des Places under an accomplished ride. Whizz Kid attempted to travel handily before being usurped by Gipsy De Choisel for the lead. Richmond Lake appeared to be moving ominously well. Hacker stalked the pacesetters into the top of the home straight to join issue with Whiz Kid with three to jump.

Whizz Kid has been most impressive in running out a wide-margin winner of a couple of novice hurdles. Richmond Lake is an obvious threat and the Imperial Cup third Hacker des Places is another one to be interested in.

Gelino Bello won the Grade 1 Sefton Novices’ Hurdle. Paul Nicholls confirmed that the horse will go chasing next season. Gentleman At Arms came second and Haute Estime third. Bravemansgame was a disappointment. Banbridge was in trouble from some way out. Skytastic weakened after making a mistake at the third-last.

Skytastic is the market leader. Gelino Bello is third, with Banbridge making steady progress on the outside.

Mac Tottie won the Aintree Grand National Festival Day 2. Peter Bowen trained Mac Totti for his family. Janika won a close race. Francky Du Berlais finished fourth. Mister Coffey did not figure. Royal Rendezvous made a mistake early and never recovered. The winner was Peter's son Sean Bowen. He was riding for the family and his father, Peter.
