Alabama vs Georgia SEC Championship odds, preview, TV info

The SEC Championship Game is set for this Saturday between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide, and the betting line has already seen plenty of movement.

The opening line saw the Bulldogs favored by three points, and it has continued to move in their direction, as the Bulldogs are now 5.5-point favorites over the Crimson Tide at Caesars Sportsbook.

The Bulldogs are 12-0 and head into this matchup as the No. 1-ranked team in the nation, and the Crimson Tide are ranked No. 8 and have only lost once in the regular season at 11-1.

The SEC title matchup was decided after Alabama beat LSU and Georgia beat Ole Miss, and the majority of the money bet so far appears to have been on Georgia as evidenced by the line moving 2.5 points from where it opened.

The oddsmakers are expecting a somewhat high-scoring game, as the over/under total is set at 55 points with first-year starting quarterbacks Carson Beck and Jalen Milroe set to duke it out.

It appeared that the Crimson Tide were going to fall short against Auburn in the Iron Bowl, but Milroe was able to lead a thrilling comeback in which he thought should get him in the Heisman Trophy conversation.

While Milroe won’t be crowned the nation’s top player, he’s got a shot to lead the Crimson Tide to a potential College Football Playoff berth if they can upset the Bulldogs, as the CFP committee would have a tough time leaving one or both SEC powers out with one loss.

The Bulldogs will likely be the No. 1 seed in the CFP if they can improve to 13-0 on Saturday, which would be their third-straight playoff appearance as they look to win three national championships in a row.

The Crimson Tide defeated the Bulldogs in the 2021 SEC Championship and was able to claim a playoff spot, but the Bulldogs have performed very well this season against ranked opponents.

Kickoff for the 2023 SEC Championship Game is set for Saturday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and will be broadcast on CBS.
