Alex Hammond Cheltenham Festival Tips On Wednesday 15th March 2023

Alex Hammond Cheltenham Tip: 1.30pm Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle – GOOD LAND @ 13/2

Alex Hammond’s first tip on Day 2 of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival comes in the opening race of the afternoon in the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle. She is siding with the Barry Connell-trained Good Land, who may well be celebrating a Tuesday win with Marine Nationale.

The 7-year-old gelding takes on a Mullins battalion as well as Hermes Allen for Paul Nicholls. Hammond thinks Good Land has what it takes to keep up his good form and make it a hat-trick of wins in his last three starts here.

Alex Hammond Cheltenham Tip: 2.10pm Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase – THE REAL WHACKER @ 5/1

Hammond’s next pick on Day 2 of Cheltenham is The Real Whacker in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase. The Irish gelding is behind Gerri Colombe and Sir Gerhard in the betting, but certainly has a great chance here.

The Sky Sports Racing expert feels The Real Whacker looks to real deal over fences, given that he is unbeaten since going chasing. The Yorkshire based trainer Patrick Neville was considering a tilt at the Gold Cup, which tells you the esteem they hold this horse in.

Alex Hammond Cheltenham Tip: 2.50pm Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle – BEACON EDGE (EW) @ 12/1

Alex Hammond’s next best bet comes in the Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle where she is taking Beacon Edge each-way. Hammond believes he offers real value at 12/1 and it’s worth noting he has ran well in a Stayers’ Hurdle at the Festival in the past.

He tried his luck a few times over fences, but seems happier since reverting back to the smaller obstacles. A great each-way chance here in race three of Day 2.

Alex Hammond Cheltenham Tip: 3.30pm Queen Mother Champion Chase – EDWARDSTONE @ 13/8

Hammond’s next betting tip on Day 2 of the Cheltenham Festival comes in the shape of Edwardstone in the Queen Mother Champion Chase.

Trainer Alan King seems happy with last year’s Arkle winner and the Sky Sports Racing pundit believes the 9-year-old has every chance as the 13/8 favourite in this one.

Alex Hammond Cheltenham Tip: 4.10pm Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase – DELTA WORK @ 5/4

In the Cross Country Chase, tipster Alex Hammond is siding with last year’s winner Delta Work to go back-to-back here at Cheltenham.

If the 10-year-old is in the same form that saw him spoil Tiger Roll’s farewell party last year, he will be increasingly difficult to beat once again in the Glenfarclas Chase on Day 2. His 5/4 price as the favourite reflects just that.

Alex Hammond Cheltenham Tip: 5.30pm Champion Bumper – A DREAM TO SHARE @ 4/1

The Sky Sports Racing expert’s sixth and final selection on Day 2 comes in the form of A Dream To Share in the Champion Bumper in the last race of the afternoon.

The JP McManus owned 5-year-old is the current betting favourite at 4/1 to win here over 2m 1/2f. This race is often Willie Mullins’ for the taking, but Hammond is taking him on here with A Dream To Share for trainer John Kiely.
