With the playoff final to decide the winner of Categoría Primera A on the horizon, both America and Millonarios are in with a great chance of sealing qualification to Colombia’s biggest football match. Ahead of the match between the two sides, here are some free predictions and tips to whet your appetite.

America to Win

Going into the match against Millonarios, America are currently top of Group B courtesy of goal difference. Their opponents on Thursday morning are level on points with them but are a goal behind making this a huge clash in the race for the Colombian title. America have been in imperious form at home as of late – picking up ten points out the last 12 available and we believe they will have too much for Millonarios on the day.

Under 2.5 Goals

Neither America nor Millonarios have been involved in high-scoring classics of late and considering what’s on the line here, we don’t believe that is going to change when the two sides meet on Thursday. Only two of Millionarios’ last eight league fixtures have seen more than two goals while the same can be said for two of America’s last six. Considering both teams know that a loss would be a monumental blow to their title aspirations, a low-scoring game is well and truly on the cards.

America/America

The home team enjoys playing in front of their passionate home fans and we believe there is every chance they get off to a quick start and lead this one at half time. Playing on the counter-attack in the second half, and leaning heavily on their superb defence, America will have enough about them to see the game out from there and we wouldn’t rule out the possibility of them adding to their lead.

America vs Millonarios: A potential playoff decider

America

After winning the Primera A title in 2020, Ameria de Cali are once again on the verge of returning to the playoff final to play for their 16th title. In the regular season, they finished in fourth position in a solid-enough campaign that was heavily influenced by red cards both for them and against them. Manager, Alexandre Guimarães has been heavily reliant on Argentinian Facundo Suarez for goals this season and he will be banking on the 28-year-old once again against Millonarios on Thursday.

Millonarios

Millonarios have once again enjoyed a superb regular season, finishing in second place in the overall standings. In the postseason, they have been keen to put last season’s disaster (when they finished 1st in the regular season but on just six points in their postseason group) to bed. So far, they are on four points and a win over America would put them in a commanding position with three games to play.
