Angels vs. Guardians prediction and odds for May 13 (Trust the Halos)

We’re a month and a half into the MLB season and the Los Angeles Angels still have a winning record. Wild.

Today, they’ll continue their series against the 17-21 Cleveland Guardians. The Angels got the better of them in their series opener on Friday, downing them by a final score of 5-4.

Can the Angels make it two straight wins against Cleveland tonight?

Let’s dive into the betting odds.

Angels vs. Guardians odds, run line, and total

Angels vs. Guardians prediction and pick

The Angles will be trotting out lefty, Reid Detmers, to start today’s game and while he doesn’t have the most impressive ERA at 5.10, I think his best is yet to come.

Detmers’ 5.10 ERA is paired with a 4.00 FIP, which should be a sign that his numbers aren’t quite reflecting his actual play and that he’s been better than people may think. That leaves us in a great buy low spot on Detmers.

Then there is the Guardians starter, Cal Quantrill, who has the opposite issue. Quantrill’s 3.89 ERA doesn’t look quite as good when you see his 4.54 FIP, which is the worst FIP he’s had in his Major League career.

It’s also worth noting that the Guardians’ offense has been the worst in the Majors as of late. Heading into today’s game, they rank dead last in MLB in OPS at .631, well below the next worst team, who are the Tigers at .631.

They’re batting just .223 as a team so far in the 2023 campaign. Yikes.

I’ll take the Angels as road favorites in this one.
