Armstrong on new season for Coyotes: 'We've got to take a step forward'

The Arizona Coyotes are in the first weekend of their preseason schedule. Bill Armstrong explains his expectations for the 2022-23 season.

The Arizona Coyotes are rebuilding after a disappointing season. General manager Dave Armstrong wants his young players to step up and be leaders. The team's new arena is still under construction. Zack Kassian and Josh Brown will bring some grit to the team. Karel Vejmelka will be asked to build on his rookie season in goal. The Coyotes begin the regular season on Oct. 13 at Pittsburgh. They will play six consecutive road games. Their new home is on the Arizona State University campus. It's still being built. Jakob Chychrun wanted to be traded from the rebuilding team at the start of training camp.

Armstrong believes the odds are stacked against the Coyotes. He told the players they have to take a step forward.
