A victory in their game in hand would take the Gunners five points clear of their rivals at the top-flight summit ahead of the weekend, when Arsenal then host lowly Bournemouth and City take on Newcastle.

The win over Arsenal was some introduction to Everton for Sean Dyche, who also got a crucial win over Leeds in a six-pointer either side of a dismal Merseyside derby showing and home defeat by Villa last time out in which they spurned numerous big chances.
The Toffees are back in the relegation zone after other results went against them at the weekend and one point adrift of safety as things stand.

Arsenal remain without Gabriel Jesus, who continues to take on more workload at London Colney as he builds up to a return from knee surgery. Their only other known absentee at present is midfielder Mohamed Elneny, who is expected to miss the remainder of the season with his own serious knee issue.
Thomas Partey returned from injury off the bench at Leicester and is now pushing to start as Arteta plots changes in a busy run of games.
Everton remain without winger Andros Townsend, while Dyche doubts that striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be fit to face Arsenal after a hamstring injury.
Scottish full-back Nathan Patterson has also been delayed in his return from knee trouble, though James Garner is closing in on a comeback in midfield.

This is a huge opportunity for Arsenal to create a bit of breathing space from City’s chase in a fierce title battle.
Everton will likely come to the Emirates and sit in, hoping to frustrate and earn a valuable point on the road that would lift them back out of the bottom three, with their inexplicable failure to sign a striker in January haunting them again versus Villa.
But Arsenal showed the sort of patience that will be crucial to breaking down such teams in the run-in during their narrow win at Leicester and know what it takes to persevere and gain revenge for that loss at Goodison.
It won’t be easy or likely pretty, but the Gunners have more than enough to prevail and open that gap to City to five points.
