Avalanche vs. Kraken prediction and odds for NHL playoffs Game 4

The Colorado Avalanche have come from behind in two straight games and now hold the 2-1 series lead in their opening round series against the Seattle Kraken.

After being upset by the Kraken in the opening game, the Avs now have the chance to take a 3-1 series lead back to Colorado for a potential clinching scenario in Game 5.

Let’s see who the oddsmakers like tonight and then I’ll give you my best bet for the game.

Avalanche vs. Kraken odds, puck line, and total

Avalanche vs. Kraken prediction and pick

Despite the series only being at 2-1, the Colorado Avalanche have largely dominated the Kraken from an analytical perspective through the first three games.

If you look at expected goals so far this season, the Avalanche are sitting at 3.95 per 60 minutes while the Kraken are at 2.32. That’s an advantage of +1.63 in favor of the Avs, which is an extremely significant margin.

The main reason the Kraken upset the Avalanche and Game 1 and went shot-for-shot with them in Game 2 is the play of Philipp Grubauer. But, he showed his true colors in Game 3, allowing five goals on 33 shots for a save percentage of .848.

Based on his sub.-.900 save percentage during the regular season, I’m willing to bet there’s a better chance he looks like the Grubauer that played in Game 3 compared to the version of himself who appeared in the first two matchups of the series.

I’ll bet on the Avalanche to get the win and take a 3-1 series lead back to Colorado.
