Domestic games are back after a quick international break, with a huge clash on Friday as the Bundesliga’s Top 2 — Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen — meet at the Allianz Arena. Can Leverkusen strike an early blow in the title race, or will Bayern do what Bayern often do and get the win?

For my best bet, I'll be backing the champions to have a successful day. Instead of the moneyline, I’ve gone for Over 2.5 Bayern Munich goals, which comes in at an attractive +120.

So far this season, Bayern Munich have scored nine goals in three games, averaging three per match — something that fits what I'm looking for here. These games are historically high scoring, with 12 of the last 14 matches between these teams seeing three or more goals. Even though I'm looking for Bayern specifically to score three times I think there’s value here. 

So far this season it’s Harry Kane and Leroy Sane who lead the club’s scoring, with three goals each. Both of those men will start this game, with Sane part of the three behind Kane, alongside Thomas Muller and Kingsley Coman. That’s a talented front and they will cause Leverkusen a lot of problems.

Keep in mind that Bayern Munich scored three or more goals at home in nine of 17 games last year, over 50% of their matches at the Allianz, and that was in a season in which Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting was their main striker. Not that they’ve upgraded to England striker Harry Kane, it’s a fair assumption they’ll beat that number easily. Indeed, this fixture last season ended with four goals for Bayern. 

Don’t overthink this, Leverkusen may be top of the Bundesliga, but it’s only been three games and Bayern’s forward line can tear shreds into any backline in the league.

At +240 I'm not going to get a massive return from this SGP, but it’s an exciting way to bump up the odds of my best bet.

Kane, is the second leg of my SGP and I’ll be backing the former Tottenham man to get on the scoresheet here. He’s scored thrice in three Bundesliga games this season and comes into this having banged one in against Scotland for his country earlier this week. 

Finally, I’ll be backing both teams to score. Leverkusen are top of the league because of goal difference, which in part is down to the fact they’ve scored 11 goals in three games. They are capable of scoring against Bayern even though I don’t believe it’ll be enough to alter the result.

Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen side and Over/Under analysis

I’m confident the Bavarian side win this one, but you can’t be backing Bayern at -1,822. There’s better value on either a draw at +370 or an away win at +385... but while it’s probably better value, it’s simply something that I can’t see happening.

The bookies are certain we’ll see goals with both teams to score coming in at -270 and Over 2.5 goals at -333. While I think both will land, as shown by my SGP, you can’t back either of those two at those odds. If you did expect this to be low scoring you can get Under 2.5 goals at +220 — but I wouldn’t recommend that.
