Berry on a record-equalling Slipper Conquest

Tommy Berry is chasing his fourth win in the $5m Longines Golden Slipper Golden on Saturday. He is riding Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Russian Conquest. Berry would like to equal the Golden Sipper riding record held by Hall of Famers Ron Quinton and Shane Dye.

Russian Conquest is rated a $11 chance to win the Golden Slipper behind Coolangatta at $4.50. Berry rode Russian Conquest on Tuesday morning at trackwork. Russian Convinced ran only fourth in the Reisling Stakes last start. She is trained by Peter and Paul Snowden. When the emergencies are withdrawn, RussianConvince moves into barrier 13.

Berry doesn't have the same level of confidence for Saturday's race as he did when he won the Golden Slipper on Overreach (2013), Vancouver (2015) and Stay Inside (2021). Berry is worried about Russian Conquest's chances.
