Best College Football Players in the Transfer Portal

No matter what college sport you are a fan of, every offseason features a lot of movement between players and coaches alike.

College football teams will do whatever it takes to compete at the highest level, and that means trying to get the best of the best when it comes to college football transfers. With the fall season coming up, there are still quality names in the transfer portal.

With the 2022-23 season having ended a few months ago, the players with the best college football player stats in the portal are long gone. The Sam Hartman’s are off the board but follow along for the best-remaining players in the college football transfers portal.

Better Late than Never

They say it is better late than never, and that will be the case when recruiting these college football transfers. Sometimes it takes time to find the perfect fit, but these guys need to make a decision soon. The sooner they decide which school to transfer to, the sooner they can get integrated into the school, the team, and the culture.

Trouble in Minnesota

Three of the best college football transfers left on the board are leaving the University of Minnesota. After coming up short of winning the Big Ten West, a few players decided to find a new home. Trey Potts, Mike Brown-Stephens, and DeAngelo Carter are all testing the waters.

Trey Potts

Potts had a solid run with the Golden Gophers over the last two seasons on limited opportunities. The running back ran for 1,029 yards and had nine touchdowns in his last two seasons with the team. The former three-star recruit will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Mike Brown-Stephens

His buddy on the offensive side of things, Brown-Stephens, is also on the market. Like Potts, Brown-Stephens was also a three-star recruit coming out of high school who did not get as many opportunities in Minneapolis. The wide receiver caught 45 passes during his two years up North.

DeAngelo Carter

Last but not least, we move to the defensive line with Carter. At 6-foot-2, 300 pounds, “Trill” Carter was named an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention in 2022. He is arguably the best defensive prospect in the portal after starting 13 games and making 19 tackles in 2022.

Former Four-Stars

Any player that was a four-star recruit out of high school deserves a shot, whether that be a second chance or even a third chance. These former four-star recruits are in the college football transfers portal and can contribute to any team in the country.

Malcolm Epps

Malcolm Epps has the ideal body you envision for a tight end. Epps was once a top-10 tight end in the country before committing to the University of Texas. In 2021 he transferred to the USC Trojans and is looking for his third school. On a stacked Trojans team, Epps only had three receptions in 2022. Looking on the bright side, the 6-foot-6 TE did catch two touchdowns.

Finn Dirstine

Finally, we can show some love for the offensive linemen. Finn Dirstine–the former No.2 recruit out of Massachusetts, is leaving his home state as he transfers from Boston College. He will be a graduate student and is one of the best offensive lineman remaining in the college football transfers portal.

Do Not Sleep on These Guys

There are still many guys looking for homes in college football. They may not have the best college football stats, but they would add a lot of value to any program.

Justin Britt

Justin Britt was one of eight true freshmen to see action for the University of Iowa in 2019. The IOL started numerous games in 2021 before suffering a season in 2022 and missing the entire year. Britt can be a starter on a power-five team.

Chance Main

Chance Main of the University of Colorado is one of many Buffaloes who entered the transfer portal. Colorado is in a lot of people’s college football picks, but not everyone enjoyed the hiring of Deion Sanders. Main had 17 tackles for a quality Colorado team in 2022.

Robert Rahimi

Showing some love for the mid-majors, Robert Rahimi deserves a shot on a bigger stage. At Liberty University, the safety had 24 solo tackles and five interceptions. Rahimi is one of the top-ranked college football transfers left on the board, although some overlook him because of where he attends.

Discovering the Hidden Gems

The college football transfers portal is a crucial part of college football, allowing players to explore new opportunities and find the perfect fit for their talents. As the 2022-23 season ended, many talented players found new homes, but there are still some hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

From former four-star recruits to mid-major standouts, these players have the potential to make an impact on any team. Despite not having the best college football stats, they are still worth keeping an eye on as they make their decisions and take their talents to new programs.
