Best MLB prop bets today 8/7/2023

One of the bigger games in baseball today is the Los Angeles Dodgers versus the San Diego Padres. This NL West matchup is crucial for both teams as the playoffs near.

The Dodgers sit atop their division and are a favorite (+475, DraftKings Sportsbook) to win the World Series. The Padres have the third-highest payroll with big names like Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado and Xander Bogaerts. They sit three games out of a wild-card spot today.

With such an important matchup, here are same game parlay for today’s game:

If you like betting on baseball, we have saved you the hassle of choosing a sportsbook because we have researched, ranked and reviewed the top MLB sportsbooks and the best promos available to Pennsylvania bettors at each of these sportsbooks.

The first same-game parlay we have on DraftKings involves Freeman, Lugo and Grisham. Freeman is one of the best hitters in baseball. His slashline is .339/.425/.589 which are all top five in all of baseball. He has 149 hits in 110 games, good for a 1.35 hits per-game average. He dominates at the plate with 40 doubles, 23 homers, 80 RBIs and a 1.011 OPS.

Leg two is also a heavy favorite. We are looking at Seth Lugo (4-5, 3.54 ERA) to earn 4+ strikeouts. The odds list this prop as much of a lock as Freeman to get a hit. Lugo has 88 Ks in 89.0 innings pitched. He averages 5.56 inning pitched through his 16 starts.

Trent Grisham’s hit is the hardest leg of the parlay odd-wise. He has 75 hits in 108 games. However, the centerfielder is batting .417 versus Tony Gonsolin (6-4, 4.11 ERA) with five hits in 12 at-bats including a double and a homer. Since the All-Star break, Grisham has 17 hits in 22 games.

The total odds for this bet are +230. A $15 bet would payout $49.50 on this parlay.

If you’re a Dodgers fan, a believer in batting momentum or just like how Los Angeles matches up better, here is a Dodgers-only parlay. Once again, we are taking Freeman to get a hit which is our so-to-say lock.

Following, we look to catcher Will Smith to get on with a hit too. While Smith isn’t the first player to come to mind when thinking of Dodgers hitters, he remains reliable. The 28-year-old has 85 hits in 85 games. He’s gone 1-for-4 against Lugo with a homer.

The hits from Freeman and Smith are likely tonight. We use those favorites to hedge our parlay on a Betts homer (+425). In baseball betting, homers are an unlikely event. However, homers are most likely to come from Betts when compared to the league. He sits fourth in the MLB with 30 long balls this season. He averages a home run in 28% of his games. He has four homers in 19 games since the break and 19 of his 30 on the season come from righties.

The total odds for this bet are +700. A $15 bet would payout $120 on this parlay.

More interested in the San Diego side of the ball? This Padres parlay is crafted similarly in structure to the Dodgers one, but on the home team’s side. Tatis Jr., like Freeman, is greater than -300 to record a hit. Tatis Jr. has 101 hits in 92 games played. He has slowed down post-All-Star break with 16 hits in 22 games. For that reason, he was not included in the mixed parlay.

The Lugo Leg was discussed above. The pitcher has a proven ability to get Ks and the four-strikeout mark should be surpassed. We then look to Soto, like Betts, for a homer. Juan Soto is a power hitter. He has 24 homers on the season and heated up as of late. He’s slashing .33/.446/.747 since the break with a 1.192 OPS. Plus, four homers in his last seven games.

The total odds for this bet are +700. A $15 bet would payout $120 on this parlay.
