Betfair Chase: Protektorat sets Cheltenham Gold Cup dream alight with Haydock victory for Dan and Harry Skelton

Protektorat won the Betfair Chase at Haydock. It was just the horse's fourth attempt at a distance of three miles and above. Sponsors made Protektorats 10/1 for the Cheltenham Gold Cup and 5/12 for King George VI Chase. A Plus Tard was pushed out to 10-4/10 for Gold Cups. Galopin Des Champs was 11-5/4 favourite. Protekterat will not go to the King's Chase in January. He will go for Fleur De Lys Chase during the Winter Million weekend (January 22) or the Cotswolds Chase (at Cheltonham on January 28).

Hitman won the Get Daily Rewards With Betfair Graduation Chase on Merseyside. Sir Alex Ferguson was a co-owner with Protektorat and Paul Nicholls-trained Hitman. Nicholl's stable jockey Harry Cobden faces a decision next month at Kempton on whether to ride Hitman or Bravemansgame in the King George VI Chase.  Hitmer is a six-year-old rated 160 and is becoming the finished article.

Botox Has won the Betfair Exchange Stayers' Handicap Hurdle. Goshen won Grade Two Coral Ascot HURDLE. Caoilin Quinn won his ninth race of the season. He moved to Mr Moore's in August. He is originally from Downpatrick. His first win was at the age of 16. It was his biggest to date. The horse is still young and there is a lot of potential for improvement.
