UFC 285
Saturday night brings a full slate of UFC action available through ESPN+ along with the later heavyweight competition on PPV starting at 10 p.m. ET. The main event is a heavyweight fight between veteran Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane.
Although Jones hasn’t fought in three years, he has been preparing in recent months for this fight. The big news of the fight is that Jones put on 43 pounds to meet heavyweight, weighing in at 248 pounds.
This will make the fight an interesting proposition with Gane fighting little competition that actually meets his weight — 247.5 pounds. Both fighters only have one loss in their career which makes this an even more crucial matchup.
Let’s say you grab Gane at +145 on BetMGM. It is generally easier to fight at a weight class with a frame already at a similar weight.
Gane will be used to his weight and therefore, likely have more speed, power and the endurance with being accustomed to weighing at 247.5 pounds. Additionally, Jones may be rusty with a lack of fighting in MMA.
