CFB Week 9 odds & picks: Bet on OSU vs. Wisconsin, Colorado vs. UCLA using BetMGM promo code SPORTSPICK

Now that you have your brand-new BetMGM account, it’s time to place your first bet using the BetMGM promo code SPORTSPICK. If you’re a college football lover, there is a full slate of CFB Week 9 from which to choose. Ohio State vs. Wisconsin and Colorado vs. UCLA are among the most closely-watched games in Week 9.

Ohio State (7-0 SU, 4-3 ATS) vs. Wisconsin (5-2 SU, 2-4-1 ATS)

  • Point spread: Ohio State -14.5 (-110); Wisconsin +14.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Ohio State -650; Wisconsin +475
  • Total: O/U 43.5

Considered one of the favorites to win the CFP championship this year, Ohio State goes into Madison on Saturday undefeated and ranked No. 3 in the country. The Buckeyes beat then-No. 7 Penn State 20-12 last weekend with stifling defense, keeping the Nittany Lions out of the end zone until the final seconds of the game.

In Week 7 against Iowa, Wisconsin lost its second game of the year 15-6. In the Iowa game, the Badgers lost starting QB Tanner Mordecai, who broke his throwing hand and is out indefinitely. Wisconsin bounced back last week with a late-game win over Illinois with Braedyn Locke under center in his first college football appearance.

Despite the setbacks, Iowa’s loss last week against Minnesota helped put Wisconsin back on top of the Big Ten West, where the Badgers are 3-1.

The Buckeyes will face off against former Ohio State assistant coach (and, before that, player) Luke Fickell, who is in his first year as Wisconsin’s head coach. It’s Ohio State’s first time facing Fickell as a conference rival. In 2019, Ohio State shut out the Fickell-coached Cincinnati Bearcats 42-0 in Columbus.

Wisconsin last beat Ohio State in 2010, when the Buckeyes were the top-ranked team in the country.

BetMGM) looked like earlier in the week:

Colorado (4-3 SU, 3-3-1 ATS) vs. UCLA (5-2 SU, 4-3 ATS)

  • Point spread: Colorado +17 (-110); UCLA -17 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Colorado +575; UCLA -900
  • Total: O/U 63.5

Colorado drew a lot of attention (and betting action) early in the season thanks to a high-flying offense under first-year coach Deion Sanders. But, after an impressive start, the Buffaloes fell back to earth in Pac-12 conference play, where they currently sit with a 1-3 record.

Colorado is coming off of a bye week, and they’ll need the rest as they face No. 23 UCLA at the Rose Bowl on Saturday. UCLA is leading the Pac-12 in total defense, allowing just nine touchdowns in seven games.

The Bruins are coming off of a dominant performance over Stanford last week, winning 42-7. UCLA is 2-2 in Pac-12 play, with away losses to ranked rivals Oregon State and Utah.

  • Buckeyes cover the spread: Ohio State is well-positioned for a win Saturday and seem set up to cover the spread as well. Other than missing backup QB Devin Brown (who’s out for a few weeks with a foot injury suffered against Penn State), the Buckeyes should be at full strength for the game. Despite his strong showing late in last week’s game against Illinois, Wisconsin’s freshman starting QB Braedyn Locke will likely have a tough go against Ohio State’s top-shelf defense.
  • The under on Colorado/UCLA: Both Colorado and UCLA have shown they are capable of putting up big offensive numbers. In last week’s 42-7 win over Stanford, quarterback Ethan Garbers looked strong in his first start since Week 1, running for 51 yards and passing for 240. But as of midweek, it was unclear if Garbers or freshman Dante Moore would start. Against that same Stanford team, impressive Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders threw for 400 yards, but he’s susceptible to sacks and hasn’t faced a defense as all-around tough as UCLA’s, so the Bruins should keep the Buffs’ offense in check.
