The Phillies travel to the Big Apple for a matchup against the Yankees. They’ve split the first two meetings in this series, so the winner will have some early-season bragging rights.

Right-hander Aaron Nola got absolutely shelled against the Rangers on opening day, giving up five runs in just over three innings pitched. That showing is certainly not indicative of Nola’s talent and this game will likely be a chance for him to up those strikeouts and drop his ERA.

This matchup surprisingly favors Philadelphia. While the Yankees have one of the most impressive offenses in the league, they struggled at times last year against right-handed pitchers, with a strikeout percentage above 27% against righties.

While the Bronx Bombers can certainly hit for power, they are also susceptible to strikeouts.

The Yankees are -160 favorites with the total at 6.5. Despite the power in the Yankees lineup, this one will likely be more of a pitching battle so play the under if you’re into totals bets.

If player props are more your speed, look for Aaron Nola over 7.5 strikeouts. While it’s high, he did get four strikeouts in the brutal opening-day game against the Rangers and he’ll likely be a bit more dialed in during this game.
