Beyond the Boards Recap: Tony D Returns to His Hockey Roots

Episode 2 of the "Beyond the Board" docuseries follows Tony DeAngelo from the Flyers Training Center in Voorhees to the Hollydell Rink in his native Sewell, NJ. De Angelo grew up in South Jersey and he was always a fan of Philadelphia Flyers. He was selected 19th overall in the NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning. He played in USHL and the Ontario Hockey League. In the off season, Deangelo coaches kids at Holly dell. His approach is different from his competitive side. The late Ray Emery sported a tattoo that said, "Anger is a gift."

Tony DeAngelo was drafted by Tampa Bay Lightning in 2014. He played in the USHL and the Ontario Hockey League. De Angelo has a lot of emotion and sometimes struggles with anger management. In the last two NHL seasons, Deangelo has scored double-digit goals and surpassed 50 points. He has played for the Arizona Coyotes, New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes. When playing against the Flyers for New Jersey, he clashed with Travis Konecny and Scott Laughton. Kevin Hayes helped Deano to calm down their rivalry. The fact that K onecly and Laughon have a mutual friend, Kevin, turned the heat down.
