Big night for progeny of Habibti at Addington

The first ever Group One fillies trot and the richest race feature for trots mares were held on Friday night at Addington Raceway. Both features were won by runners paying double-figure quotes. One of the double figure winners was the blue-blooded daughter of Andover Hall, Resolve, who took out the inaugural $50,000 Group Two Mares Handicap Trot. The Bloss (The Pres) and Sarah O’Reilly set up front by The Pres. Resolved was away well for her regular pilot, Bob Butt. She cut her leg on Cup Day and was at home walking through the sea healing it up.

Resolve won her sixth race at Addington on Saturday. She is the second foal of trainer Butt's champion race filly Habibti. Resolve is a good trotter. She will probably be put in foaling next spring and can race for a while in the foals as well. Habbti won three Oaks and two Derbies as a three-year-old. Her first foale, Astound, was a success. It took three years before Habbi was able to produce her G2 winning daughter at stud. The breeding program has been expanded to include mares' races. There are two races up north earlier in year.

Confessional came second in the G2 2YO Sires Stakes Championships earlier on the programme. The son of Father Patrick will have his chance to replicate the deeds of his mother Habibti on Sunday at Addington. Rob Patterson and Cath have taken over the Tactical Landing colt and they are putting Habi back in foal to Bird Parker this season.
