Big Ten Misery Index: Tale of 2 Huskies for MSU, Michigan football
The Big Ten had a mixed day on Saturday. Michigan football beat the Huskies 59-0. Southern Illinois Salukis beat Northwestern 31-24. MSU beat Washington 39-28 in Seattle. USC beat Fresno State 45-17. There are seven FBS schools with a dog as mascot. There's 13 FCS schools that have a mascot, and three of them are nonconference opponents. The Big League has 20 mascots. It's good for the football teams to play against dogs. They should be afraid of dogs in the College Football Playoff. After all, they beat their first three opponents by a combined 166-3.
Penn State beat Auburn 41-12 on Saturday. The team is 3-0 and 1-1 in the Big Ten. Only four teams in B1G/SEC history have won on the road in that league.
Ohio State beat Toledo 77-21. The Buckeyes are unbeaten. Michigan lost to Washington. Michigan and Ohio State are both in the Big Ten.
Michigan beat Connecticut 59-0. Blake Corum scored five rushing touchdowns. Ron Johnson and Hassan Haskins had more carries to do it.
Wisconsin beat New Mexico State 66-7. The Badgers are 2-1 and the last week they were 3. They play the Buckeyes at the Horseshoe in Columbus next week.
Minnesota beat Colorado 49-7. P.J. Fleck declined to release a depth chart this week.
Illinois is 2-1 and 0-0 in the Big Ten. The team hasn't beaten Northwestern in Chicago since 2014. Southern Illinois is the current Big 10 team.
Iowa won 27-0 over Nevada. The game was delayed by four hours. Iowa is 2-1 and last week was 1.
Rutgers beat Temple 16-14. Head coach Greg Schiano is the winningest coach at Rutgers. He is in his second stint at the school.
Nebraska lost 49-14 to Oklahoma. The team is 1-3 and 0-1 in the Big Ten.
Maryland beat SMU 34-27. The Terps are 3-0. Michigan lost to the Huskies.
Indiana beat Western Kentucky 33-30 in overtime. The Hoosiers are now 3-0.
Purdue lost 32-29 to Syracuse. The Boilermakers committed seven penalties. They led by four with 51 seconds left.
Michigan State lost 39-28 to Washington on Saturday. It's the 14th straight road loss for MSU against a Pac-12 school.
The Big Ten Misery Index ranks Michigan football as No. 1. Northwestern is 1-2, 1,0, but they are still leading the Big League West.
