The NBA is expanding and there will be 32 teams. Bill Simmons predicts the Phoenix Suns will sell for $4.7 billion. There are only 8 teams worth buying. The Suns are the only one out of those 8 that is worth having. The other teams are: Lakers, Knicks, Warriors, Bulls, Celtics, the Mavericks, Heat, and Suns. They are worth $2 billion each. NBA teams have increased in value in the last decade.
The Rockets went for $2.2 billion in 2017, the Nets $ 2.35 billion and the Jazz $1.5 billion.
Simmons predicts the Phoenix Suns will be worth $4.7 billion. He didn't include the Clippers or Nets, because they are in the two largest markets in NBA. He believes the Suns are attractive to rich people because of their location. The Suns have Devin Booker and a rich history. Steve Ballmer lives in Seattle and travels a lot.
Sarver owns around a third of the Suns. He has the option to make all the other owners sell their shares or sell his part of team. If the team goes for $4.5 billion, Sarver would get around $1.1 billion for his share. If other team owners start to wonder about selling their team, this might be it.
