Having said that, Luke Richardson’s club has shown they still have their pride. They are coming off a stunning 5-0 victory over the Ottawa Senators who are battling for playoff position and smoked the Red Wings twice last week.

Chicago are very accustomed to playing the underdogs in the NHL odds, and have only been favorites in the NHL betting lines four times all season. They are 27-32 against the puck line as underdogs this year.

Just two weeks ago, the Red Wings were locked in a three-way tie for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Six losses later and Detroit have faded in the NHL playoff odds as they’re now parked in the 13th spot.

On the heels of embarrassing back-to-back losses to an Ottawa squad they were fighting with for a Wild Card spot, general manager Steve Yzerman decided to take the seller route at the deadline, getting rid of Tyler Bertuzzi, Filip Hronek and a few others for a boatload of draft picks.

Defensively, the Red Wings have been a mess during this slide, giving up 27 goals over the last six games. Although Chicago doesn’t have many big-name players left, they have won seven of the last 10 meetings between the two sides including a 4-3 overtime victory earlier this season.
