Ian Foster was insincere and cold-hearted after the All Blacks' dramatic victory over the Springboks. Foster's team won 39-37 to secure the Bledisloe Cup for a 20th campaign. The All Black's coach was muzzled after their series defeat to Ireland in July. The decision by Mathieu Raynal to award the New Zealand side a late free kick after Bernard Foley took too long to take a penalty was unprecedented. Sam Whitelock, who was playing his 139th Test, admitted he had never seen a decision like that. Dave Rennie, captain James Slipper and acting All blacks skipper Sam Whitten were surprised by the decision.
