Boks can’t underestimate Italy as they try to avoid tour whitewash
The Springboks are on an end-of-year tour and they need to win against Italy in Genoa to avoid going winless. Italy have won five of their last six internationals, including beating Australia and Wales. The Boks have only lost to Italy once in their history, a 20-18 defeat in Florence back in 2016. Their final match against England at Twickenham next weekend is outside the international window, so their French and English based players won't be available.
The Boks are playing Italy. Pieter-Steph du Toit is going to a disciplinary hearing on Tuesday. Cheslin Kolbe is a doubt after being concussed in the same match. Joseph Dweba has been called up to the Bok squad on standby. Bongi Mbonambi or Malcolm Marx are a possibility to be rested. Salmaan Moerat is expected to start in place of Eben Etzebeth.
