Braves vs. Mets odds, lines: Advanced computer model reveals picks for May 1, 2023, matchup

The New York Mets will look to snap out of their early-season funk and end the Atlanta Braves' five-game winning streak over them when they meet in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Monday afternoon. After Atlanta posted a 4-0 five-inning win on Friday, Saturday's and Sunday's games were both rained out. The Braves (18-9), who have won the last five National League East Division titles and won the 2021 World Series, have been dominant away from home, winning 11 of 13 games. The Mets (15-12) have been streaky this season, having won eight of nine from April 12-21. They have now lost five of six since that stretch. Spencer Strider (3-0, 1.80 ERA) is starting for Atlanta, while the Mets are expected to have a bullpen game.

The game is slated to begin at 1:10 p.m. ET at Citi Field in New York. The Braves are the -236 favorites on the money line (risk $236 to win $100) in the latest Braves vs. Mets odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over/under for total runs scored is 8.5 (see the latest lines for every game on our MLB odds page).

Before making any Braves vs. Mets picks, you NEED to see the latest MLB predictions from the SportsLine Projection Model.

The model simulates every MLB game 10,000 times. It went 331-285 on top-rated MLB money-line picks (+357) over the past two seasons, and it is on a 26-21 run dating back to the end of last season. Anybody who has followed it has seen profitable returns.

The model knows New York center fielder Brandon Nimmo is off to the best start of his career, hitting .330 with a .435 OBP. In 26 games, Nimmo has six doubles, two homers and 13 RBI in 94 at-bats. He has nine multi-hit games, including a 5-for-5 effort with a home run and two RBI in a 5-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on April 19. In 66 career games against the Braves, he is hitting .252 with 15 doubles, five homers and 17 RBI. He also has four stolen bases and has been caught just once.

The model also knows Atlanta right fielder Ronald Acuña Jr. has been red hot at the plate with hits in seven of the past nine games, including three with multi-hits. In Tuesday's 7-4 win against Miami, Acuña was 2-for-4 with a double. He was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 4-0 win over the Mets. For the season, he is hitting .352 with four homers, 14 RBI and 23 runs scored.

Now, it has set its sights on Braves vs. Mets. We can tell you the model is leaning Over on the total, and it also says one side of the money line has ALL the value! You ABSOLUTELY need to see it before locking in any MLB picks of your own.
