Bruins The Most Bet-On Team At DraftKings On MA Launch Day
The Boston Bruins have a passionate fanbase in the Commonwealth, and that was made even more evident on launch day for Massachusetts online sportsbooks.
Last Friday, the Bruins were the most bet-on team on DraftKings Sportsbook MA leading up to their game on Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings. In addition, the game itself came in fourth in terms of most bet-on games for launch day.
This was just the start.
Now that online sports betting in Massachusetts is live, hockey fans in the state have a chance to bet on NHL games throughout the rest of the regular season, playoffs and Stanley Cup.
DraftKings MA launch day highlights
Over the course of launch weekend March 10-12, 8.1 million GeoComply transactions took place in Massachusetts by 406,400 player accounts.
DraftKings Massachusetts was one of six sportsbooks to launch last Friday at 10 a.m. The launch came at a wonderful time of year when there are more than a couple sports to choose from when placing bets.
However, once all bet types became available in Massachusetts on launch day, bettors tended to focus on NBA, NHL, and college basketball games and teams.

While some may have expected the Celtics, it shouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the Bruins were the most bet-on team in Massachusetts on launch day. Not only because of their large in-state fan base, but because of the historic success they are having on the ice this season.
The Bruins were the fastest team to reach the 50-win mark in NHL history, and they are on pace to the NHL record for most points and wins by a team in a season.
MA hockey fans weren’t treated to a Bruins game on launch day, but they wasted no time placing their bets for Saturday’s game.

Puck drop for the Red Wings vs. Bruins game wasn’t until 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 11. This makes it the only game that appears in the top-five most bet-on games that didn’t take place on launch day.
It was also the only NHL game in the top five, as the other four were all basketball contests.
Boston Bruins betting in Massachusetts
Bruins fans can bet on NHL games with six different Massachusetts sportsbooks. They are DraftKings, BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, WynnBET, FanDuel and Barstool Sportsbook.
Betr plans to go live in April, while Bally Bet and Fanatics Sportsbook will launch in May. Betway will launch in January 2024.
At full capacity, Massachusetts could feature as many as 15 online sportsbooks.
