Bruins vs Canadiens Prediction, Preview, Odds and Picks April 13

Will Bruins Want to Keep Pushing?

The Boston Bruins might already have the top seed in the conference (and NHL) locked up right now, but the question is will they be searching for more points to add to their record-breaking total?

There’s nothing to play for in their regular season-ending matchup with the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday. The Canadiens have been getting blasted lately. They have lost six of their last seven by a combined score of 29-13. Is there any reason to back the Habs in the sportsbook?

Will Boston Be Motivated?

The Boston Bruins are officially a part of history. They just recorded their 133rd point in the regular season, which is one more than the 1976 Montreal Canadiens.

However, keep in mind that Montreal had no overtime rules in its respective era to get points for extra-time losses. Winning a 64th game of the season isn’t something that the Bruins are getting overly excited about, though, as they understand it’s simply a regular-season accolade.

It’s hard to see Boston playing its best players in this one. If you’re going to bet online, double-check the news wires. After all, the Bruins are the No. 1 seed by a massive 22-point margin.

With one game left against Montreal, there’s a possibility that numerous starters will rest to avoid injuries. Among the most notable stars that could sit out are David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand and goalie Linus Ullmark. That could impact the NHL odds.

“We’re happy about it right now, don’t get me wrong, but it’s a regular-season record. Playoffs starts and everything starts over again.”

Canadiens Getting Manhandled

Not only have the Montreal Canadiens been eliminated from postseason contention, they’ve been absolutely whooped in a handful of their recent games.

During this recent seven-game stretch, the Canadiens have lost to the Carolina Hurricanes (3-0), the Detroit Red Wings (5-0), the Toronto Maple Leafs (7-1) and the Florida Panthers (5-2).

None of these games were even remotely close, as they were dominated for most of these outings. Taking the Habs on the NHL betting lines have been quite costly.

The challenge here is that the Canadiens “A” team is probably not even as good as Boston’s backups. The Bruins have won seven straight and they have two excellent goaltenders. If they rest one, they’ll still have a big edge on Montreal.

Given the momentum of the two sides, it’s hard to take the Habs with your NHL picks.

Bruins vs Canadiens Picks and Prediction

Even if the Bruins decide to rest a few of their starters, roll with them here confidently. The Habs are in an ugly downtrend to end the season and this is the second half of a back-to-back for them.

Meanwhile, the Bruins have won seven straight and are still the better team – even if they rest starters. They’re the safer choice for your sports bets.
