Bruins vs. Flyers Predictions, Picks & Odds

The Boston Bruins have a chance to break the NHL’s single-season wins record when they travel to the City of Brotherly Love to take on the Philadelphia Flyers. Read on for our Bruins-Flyers prediction based on the best NHL odds.

With 62 wins on the campaign, the Boston Bruins are on the precipice of immortality. Tied with the 1995-96 Detroit Red Wings and 2018-19 Tampa Bay Lightning for the most wins in a season, the Bruins can break the record against the Flyers on Sunday evening.

Boston heads into the game fresh off a 2-1 win over the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night. Pavel Zacha registered a pair of goals against his old team, and Vezina front-runner Linus Ullmark made 29 saves to secure the victory.

Unlike the Bruins, the Flyers’ season has been largely forgettable. Planted firmly outside of the playoff picture, Philadelphia limps into this matchup coming off a 4-0 loss to the New York Islanders on Saturday. Goaltender Carter Hart stopped 15 shots in a losing cause, while Islanders’ masked man Ilya Sorokin posted his league-leading sixth shutout of the season.

Here is our best Bruins vs. Flyers NHL prediction (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Bruins vs. Flyers prediction

Bruins -1.5 (-105 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Despite wrapping up home-ice advantage for the playoffs a long time ago, the Bruins are still motivated. Of course, hoisting Lord Stanley’s Mug at the end of the season is the ultimate goal, but breaking the regular season wins record would be a gigantic feather in the Bruins’ cap.

Even if they weren’t chasing history, I’d still be backing the Bruins to cover the puck line. These two teams exist in completely different stratospheres. The Bruins outpace the Flyers in goals per game, goals surrendered per game, power-play percentage, Corsi for percentage, expected goals for, expected goals against, and expected goals for percentage.

Both teams will likely be deploying backup goalies, which is another huge advantage for the Bruins. Jeremy Swayman has been excellent in a part-time role this season, boasting a sparkling .921 save percentage, 2.20 goals-against average, and 11.6 goals saved above average in 34 appearances. Meanwhile, Flyers backup Felix Sandstrom isn't exactly lighting the world on fire with his play behind a much shakier club. Sandtrom owns a 3.63 goals-against average, .881 save percentage, and -6.95 goals saved above average over 18 games.

Boston ran roughshod over Philadelphia in each of the two previous clashes in 2022-23, winning both by a combined 10-1 score. I expect more of the same on Sunday.

Bruins vs. Flyers best odds

Bruins 1.5 (-105 DraftKings Sportsbook)

While there isn’t much difference in odds between our top-rated sportsbooks, you’ll find the best value at DraftKings (-105). If you’re looking to back the Bruins straight up, DraftKings is also the best place to go (-265).

Those seeing some value in an upset can snatch the Flyers as high as +225 through Caesars Sportsbook.

Bruins vs. Flyers odds

The Bruins opened as a -270 favorite and the line hasn’t really moved much, even with 99% of the cash in their favor. The moneyline with most books remains around -265 to -275.

Most sportsbooks have set the goal total at six. But if you want a bit of a safety cushion, FanDuel Sportsbook is offering 6.5, and the Under is listed at -134.
