Freiburg and Bayern Munich lock horns for the second time in four days on Saturday, with Bayern looking to avenge their midweek cup exit and cement their position at the top of the Bundesliga table.

Thomas Tuchel enjoyed the perfect start to life in Munich last weekend when his Bayern Munich side caught fierce rivals Borussia Dortmund cold to take a 3-0 half-time lead in Der Klassiker.

A curious own goal from Gregor Kobel gifted Bayern the lead, before Thomas Muller struck twice with Kingsley Coman getting the fourth. Dortmund would respond with two consolations late on, but it meant nothing as Bayern recorded a huge win in the Bundesliga title race.

Freiburg were also challenging at the top of the table before they drew four of their last five matches to leave them eight points adrift in fourth. Despite being unbeaten in seven, 13 points from a possible 21 is not enough to win a title at the expense of a rampant Bayern outfit.

Given their strengths, we can expect both teams to score here with Bayern Munich just edging the game. Over 3.0 Asian Goal-line appears to be a sensible pick, whilst Bayern to win with both sides scoring could be a more lucrative selection.

Head coach Christian Streich may be realistic enough to know the ultimate dream is more or less over, but motivating his side should not be difficult considering they currently sit in a lucrative Champions League spot.

Freiburg played in the Europa League this season until being eventually knocked out by Juventus, so they will hope to compete in Europe's premium competition next season.

On Tuesday, these sides met in the DFB Pokal quarter-finals with Freiburg coming from behind to win 2-1 thanks to some late drama.

Lucas Holer was the hero as the German dispatched a 95th-minute penalty to fire the underdogs into the semi-finals. Tuchel may have been delighted following his first league game, but that bubble was quickly burst and he now knows how dangerous this weekend's opponents can be.

Dayot Upamecano, who scored Bayern's goal in that cup tie, is suspended for this game to add to Tuchel's worries. Benjamin Pavard is likely to partner Matthijs De Light in central defence, with Alfonso Davies and Joao Cancelo completing the back four. Top scorer Jamal Musiala may return to the starting line-up having come on a sub in the midweek defeat.

Freiburg have no fresh concerns, with the added boost that defender Phillip Leinhart has an outside chance of returning to the bench following a long-term injury.

Scoring goals has never been an issue for Bayern and that has continued to be the case this campaign as they have found the net 76 times across their 26 league matches (2.92 per game.)

Defensively is where their issues lie and while Tuchel should be capable of sorting that out, missing a first-choice centre-back is unlikely to help his cause, especially considering they've conceded twice in each of his matches so far.

Freiburg will feel confident of picking up a result in this one despite being heavy underdogs, but to do this Streich will be fully aware that his side are likely to need at least one goal but probably two or more. He will not set up to just contain Bayern and will look to the counter-attacking ability of his forwards to cause the damage.
