Flames at Red Wings projected goalies

Jacob Markstrom (1-2-0, 2.75 GAA, .905 SV%) vs. James Reimer(1-0-0, 0.00 GAA, 1.000 SV%, 1 SO)

This will be Markstrom’s 5th start in 11 days. He has allowed at least 2 goals in each and hasn’t seen a barrage of shots. The season opener, when he stopped 34 of 37, was the only time he saw 30 shots. He didn’t face Detroit last season, but shut them out twice in 2021-22.

Reimer shut out the Blue Jackets Monday, stopping all 23 shots he saw in his team debut. He had a rough outing against the Flames last year, allowing 6 goals on 38 shots in his lone appearance against them.

Flames at Red Wings picks and predictions

Prediction

Red Wings 4, Flames 3

I know Detroit is on the 2nd night of a back-to-back, and they’re using a backup tendy, but I love the value at home here. The Flames have scored 9 goals in their last 4 games and have done nothing to really stand out as a playoff threat.

I’ll back the RED WINGS (+120).

The Flames are 1-4 on the puck line and 0-4 on the road. Detroit has covered in each game this year – a perfect 5-0. I expect them to do it again, but no thanks to the -190.

PASS.

The Flames are 3-2 O/U on the season, and the Red Wings are 4-1. Detroit has scored at least 3 goals in each game, and the Wings have 4 in each of their last 4. The Over was 1-1 in this matchup last season.
