Calm Caroline Garcia comes full circle as she caps year with WTA Finals trophy and $1.57m cheque
Caroline Garcia won the WTA Finals trophy and a $1.57 million cheque. She beat Aryna Sabalenka 7-6 (7-4), 6- 4 in the final in Texas. Andy Murray predicted Garcia would be world No 1 one day. Garcia was only 17 when Murray made the prediction. By 2014 she had won her maiden Wta singles title and three years later she won two WtTA 1000 events. Her form started to drop in 2021 and she finished the season at 74. But she has since won three WT 1000 titles and two Wimbledon titles. She came through the group phase with two wins and eased past Maria Sakkari in semi-final.
