Captain Tim Forster used to ride in military races. He was a great trainer. His first winner as a trainer was in the United Hunts' Chase at the 1963 Cheltenham Festival. Forstere's father owned Light Harvest, winner of the 1956 Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot. He had a strong opinion about proper racecourses and good fences. The Old Manor House in Letcombe Bassett, near Lambourn, is his training base. It is where he has trained the Hunter Chasers. In 1957 he won a point-to-point race at Siddington.
