Carlo Ancelotti's son to become first-time manager as he's on verge of taking the reins at top European club

CARLO ANCELOTTI’S son Davide is reportedly close to landing his first solo job as a manager.

The 33-year-old assistant coach has been working under his father for over 10 years, but is ready to make the step up.

Spanish outlet Marca report that Davide is the top candidate to takeover Swiss side, FC Basel.

The Europa Conference League side are currently looking for a new boss amid a disappointing season which sees them sitting fifth in the Swiss Super League.

Davide Ancelotti has a wealth of experience amongst Europe’s elite clubs despite never taking the reins at one.

The Italian coach has worked as an assistant manager alongside his father Carlo at Real Madrid, Everton, Bayern Munich and Napoli.

He was following the Toffee’s sacking of Frank Lampard.

The Merseyside club ultimately opted for the Premier League ready appointment of Sean Dyche.

Davide began his coaching career as a fitness coach with his dad during his first stint at Real Madrid and his time with Paris Saint Germain.

He then progressed to becoming an assistant manager in 2016.

During his time as a coach he has won the Champions League, a Bundesliga title and a UEFA Super Cup amongst other trophies.

If he is appointed he could be thrown into the deep end with Basel due to face Nice in the Europa Conference League quarter-final in the coming weeks.
