Celtics: Bettor’s accidental early NBA Finals bet may still pay off

Jayson Tatum’s Boston Celtics have turned themselves into a perennial NBA Finals contender. And after dispatching the Philadelphia 76ers in seven games, Boston is once again an unsurprising favorite to win the NBA title.

As such, one bettor is in an excellent position to take advantage of Boston’s status as a favorite. There’s just one catch: They accidentally made their bet on the Celtics winning this year’s NBA Finals … last year.

Given that Boston ultimately fell short in a Finals loss last season, this way-too-early bet actually might turn out to be a blessing in disguise — in the form of a $7,500 payout — as these Celtics try to conquer their championship demons.

Of the four remaining NBA teams in the playoffs, the Celtics are considered a heavy favorite to win it all by oddsmakers. Their +110 odds to capture the 2023 NBA title are by far the best, as they’re expected to eventually dispatch the Miami Heat in a rematch of last year’s Eastern Conference Finals before beating the Denver Nuggets in the championship round.

And if the Celtics succeed in that mission, one bettor’s accidental early misfire could turn out to be quite the lucky break.
