CFP national championship preview: Michigan, Washington betting trends, odds

With a few days to go before kickoff, Michigan is favored by 4.5 points over Washington in the college football championship game.

On the moneyline, the underdog Huskies are +155 while the Wolverines are -190 (BetMGM).

The over/under for the game is currently sitting at 56.5 points.

With that, here’s a look at both teams’ betting trends throughout the 2023 college football season.

Michigan has been the better team against the spread this season, going 8-5-1.

In their semifinal game against Alabama, the 2.5-point favorite Wolverines covered the spread, beating the Crimson Tide 27-20.

Washington went 7-6-1 ATS this season, although they beat Texas 27-31 during the semifinal as a 3.5-point underdog.

Both teams are undefeated this season, but they went about their perfect records in different ways.

Michigan spent all 14 games this season as a favorite.

Washington was the underdog heading into three games, winning and covering the spread in all three, of course.

It was one of just two teams in the country to go undefeated in at least three games as an underdog, joining Arizona, which went 6-0.

The pair was roughly average when it came to their game totals.

Michigan just barely went the over more often than under, going 7-6-1 on overs.

Washington was exactly .500 on over/unders at 7-7.

Against ranked opponents, Michigan went a perfect 4-0 while Washington went 3-1-1.

Thus far, public money seems to be pouring in on Washington.

The Huskies have garnered 64% of bets and 62% of the handle at FanDuel to cover, according to SportsHandle

They are receiving even more bets on the moneyline (73 percent), although the handle is roughly 50 percent.
