Championship relegation verdict changes after deadline day and it's not good for Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield Town face an uphill battle to avoid relegation to League One, according to the bookmakers. The Terriers have been named second favourites for the drop, despite holding games in hand on their closest rivals.

Mark Fotheringham's side currently sit 22nd in the table, with seven victories from 27 matches so far. Huddersfield are yet to record a victory in 2023, and were knocked out of the FA Cup at the third-round stage by divisional rivals Preston North End.

The Terriers are three points away from safety, and have two matches in hand to leapfrog Cardiff City and overturn this deficit. Huddersfield host QPR on Saturday, before facing a crucial midweek clash away at fellow strugglers Blackpool.

Wigan Athletic currently sit bottom of the table, a point behind Fotheringham's team despite having played a game more. However, SkyBet list the Latics and Huddersfield with the same odds to suffer relegation with a price of 4/9.

Blackpool and Rotherham are both tipped for the drop at 10/11, with Cardiff City next on the list at 7/4. Birmingham City and Bristol City are both considered long shots, with prices of 4/1 and 11/1 respectively.
