Chelsea to claim derby spoils

Chelsea’s defeat by Wolves on Sunday made it four defeats in six Premier League matches since they drew 4-4 with Manchester City last month and a return of 22 points from 18 matches is not what the owners would have expected under Mauricio Pochettino after another summer of big spending.

Palace are also under pressure and head to Stamford Bridge on a seven-match winless run. They have won just four times this season, two of those coming against Sheffield United and Burnley.

There is no doubt that Chelsea have firepower – their Premier League results since the start of October include 4-1 wins at Burnley and Tottenham, a 3-2 home victory over Brighton and that remarkable draw with City.

They should overcome a Palace side who have not kept a clean sheet in seven. However, three of the Eagles’ last five league defeats were by a 2-1 margin and one of the others was a 3-2 loss at home to Everton, so backing Chelsea to win and both teams to score looks a good bet.

Chelsea vs Crystal Palace tip 1: Chelsea to win and both teams to score @ 5/2 with Sky Bet

Defenders face a spot of bother

No Premier League team won more penalties before Christmas than Chelsea’s six while Palace have converted spot-kicks in two of their previous three games, against Liverpool and Manchester City.

Both teams have pacy, tricky attackers who could cause problems for weary defenders so a bet on a penalty to be taken may prove profitable.

Palace’s Eberechi Eze scored a fifth-minute penalty in last month’s defeat by Everton and the Eagles conceded spot-kicks in this season’s defeats against Arsenal and Aston Villa.

Four penalties have been converted in Chelsea's last five league matches at Stamford Bridge and this bet will be a winner even if an attempt from 12 yards is missed.

Nkunku can be Chelsea’s spark

Chelsea’s finishing should improve now that summer signing Christopher Nkunku has recovered from a knee injury and the France forward scored with one of his four shots against Wolves.

That was an impressive impact given that Nkunku played only 31 minutes as a second-half substitute at Molineux. Having scored 36 times in 51 Bundesliga starts in his previous two seasons at RB Leipzig, he should be backed to find the net against Palace.

With an entertaining contest expected, a goal in both halves is a solid BuildABet selection and it would have been a winner in six of Palace’s last eight league matches.

The visitors are likely to have plenty of defending to do at Stamford Bridge so complete the 12-1 BuildABet with Palace winger Jordan Ayew to be shown a card.

Ayew was booked against London rivals Arsenal, Fulham and Tottenham this season and was sent off for two yellow cards in this month’s loss to Liverpool.

Chelsea vs Crystal Palace tip 3: Christopher Nkunku to score in 90 minutes, a goal in both halves and Jordan Ayew to be carded @ 12/1 with Sky Bet
