Cheltenham Festival 2021: Punter cashes out to win £250,000 from £5 stake

A punter has won £250,000 from a £5 bet after deciding to 'cash out' on the final leg of his accumulator at Cheltenham.

Paul Dean was eyeing a potential £511,000 payday on Thursday if the last runner in his five-horse wager - hot favourite Envoi Allen - triumphed.

However, he decided not to risk it all and walked away with £250,000 hours before Envoi fell in the Marsh Novices' Chase.

As part of Dean's deal with Betfair, he would have received £300,000 if Envoi had won.

"So after celebrations last night, four hours sleep, an hour's walk at 5am, I've decided to take a partial cash out offer of 300 Envoi/250 the field," Dean said, earlier on Thursday.

"With other bets my position on the race is £322,000 Envoi or £250,000 the field."

Dean's run began with two winners at Royal Ascot nine months ago, and two more have followed at Cheltenham this week.
