Cheltenham Festival 2024 fancies

Milan Tino – Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle, Tuesday, 4.50

MILAN TINO heads to Cheltenham having placed in a couple of graded races in France and caught the eye in his two UK runs, both in Grade 2 races at Prestbury Park. However, what makes him stand out in the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle betting is his handicap rating.

Having held a rating of 136 in France, he has been rated at 126 for the Cheltenham Festival despite his decent performances in those two outings, which included finishing just a length behind Burdett Road, who is rated in the mid-130s, in January.

2. Minella Indo – Cross Country Chase, Wednesday, 4.10

With previous renewals of the Cross Country Chase being won by old legends such as Delta Work and Tiger Roll, 2021 Gold Cup winner MINELLA INDO appeals in the hope he can match their feats.

The 11-year-old had a sighter of the course over Christmas and is likely to come into the Festival in peak form as is often the case with Henry De Bromhead’s horses. If that is the case, he is the classiest runner in the field and has a good chance of winning.

3. Facile Vega – Turners Novices’ Chase, Thursday, 1.30

After winning the Champion Bumper in 2021 and finishing second in last year’s Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, FACILE VEGA has been prematurely written off over hurdles and the step up in trip to 2m 4f in the Turners Novices’ Chase could be the making of him.

Two English horses, Grey Dawning and Ginny’s Destiny are among the favourites for this one, but the Willie Mullins-trained seven-year-old has too much class for those two.

4. Zenta – County Handicap Hurdle, Friday, 2.10

Given Mullins’ incredible record in this race, we have gone for ZENTA. After finishing third in last year’s Triumph Hurdle, the five-year-old mare went on to win the Grade 1 Juvenile Hurdle at Aintree.

She has been forgotten about after a messy start over fences but that pedigree over hurdles can help her here. So can a rating of 142, which makes Zenta our choice for this Grade 1 prize on the final day.
