Cheltenham Festival 2024 ante-post tips: Four horses we like at each-way prices

Cheltenham staged its first fixture of the new National Hunt season over the weekend, with two days of exciting action.

Irish-trained horses won five of the 14 races at the Cotswolds venue over Friday and Saturday and the Irish domination will be expected to continue at the Festival in March.

Here are four horses we like the look of at each-way prices:

Gentleman De Mee - Champion Chase 50/1

The day two feature is likely to be Gentleman De Mee's big target for the season after he missed it this year.

The JP McManus-owned seven-year-old landed the Ladbrokes Dublin Chase at the Dublin Racing Festival in February and previously defeated Edwardstone in his novice season at Aintree.

Only seven horses have lined up for the last two Champion Chase renewals and the 50/1 available for Gentleman De Mee is far too big to ignore, with bookies paying out on three places ante-post.

Flooring Porter - Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase 10/1

Gavin Cromwell's dual Stayers' Hurdle was successful on his chasing debut on Saturday at Cheltenham and could be aimed at the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase at the Festival.

There's a long way to go between then and now, but Cromwell was clearly delighted with that display and it would be no surprise to see him placed or better in March.

The Meath trainer has enjoyed numerous successes at the meeting in recent years and he will almost certainly go close to having a few more in 2024.

Fastorslow - Gold Cup 12/1

The Martin Brassil-trained Fastorslow pulled off one of the surprises of last season when landing the Punchestown Gold Cup back in April.

The three-mile contest looked like it was going to be a battle between Galopin Des Champs and Bravmansgame, but Fastorslow stunned everyone by coming between the market leaders to land the race under J J Slevin.

The seven-year-old also has good Cheltenham form to his name, having finished second by just a neck to subsequent Grand National winner Corach Rambler in the Ultima back in March, one year after finishing runner-up in the Coral Cup over hurdles.

He looks to have a super each-way chance in the biggest race of the week next March.

Impervious - Mares Chase 9/1

Impervious was a popular winner of the Mares Chase for Wexford trainer Colm Murphy on the final day of this year's Festival and that race will surely be her target once again this term.

She was sent off at odds of 15/8 back in March and she will not be the colour of 9/1 if everything goes to plan between now and the 2024 Festival.

The seven-year-old was undefeated in five starts last season and she could be set for a similar campaign this time around.
