The San Francisco Giants and the Chicago Cubs meet in MLB action from Wrigley Field in this week’s edition of Sunday Night baseball.

The San Francisco Giants will be out to build on a 5-2 win over the Cubs from Saturday’s matchup. Joc Pederson leads the Giants with 22 home runs and 62 RBIs while Wilmer Flores has 107 hits with 63 RBIs of his own, 26 doubles and a .235 batting average. Thairo Estrada has 108 hits with 19 doubles and 53 RBIs as well this season. Mike Yastrzemski also has 26 doubles of his own as well as a .210 batting average on the year. John Brebbia will start here and is 6-1 with a 2.93 ERA and 48 strikeouts this season.

The Chicago Cubs will look to rebound and salvage something on Sunday after their defeat in Saturday’s matchup. Willson Contreras has 97 hits, 21 home runs and a .246 batting average while Patrick Wisdom also has 22 home runs, 58 RBIs and 25 doubles on the year. Ian Happ also has a team-high 135 hits with 38 doubles of his own, 65 RBIs and a .274 batting average while Nico Hoerner has a .287 batting average and 127 hits as well on the year. Wade Miley will start here and is 1-0 with a 3.13 ERA and 18 strikeouts this season.

San Francisco is 1-5 in their last 6 games overall and 1-5 in their last 6 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Chicago is 3-10 in their last 13 games overall while the under is 4-2 in their last 6 games overall.

I get the case to be made for the Giants here, but the Giants and their current play, despite a win on Saturday, does nothing for me as this team has played themselves out of the wild card race over the last month. Chicago was going nowhere all season, but they’ve still been fighting and playing decent ball and not only that, but Wade Miley looked good in his return and all things considered, I actually feel more comfortable backing the Cubs right now. Give me Chicago.
