New Zealand rugby is an old dog with no new tricks. It's a mess. Some people want the All Blacks to lose. The Auckland NRL club threw Stacey Jones in at the deep end to replace Nathan Brown. He's not quite the disaster I predicted. He never had the coaching chops to engineer a miraculous turnaround. New Zealand's isolation and small economy are significant hurdles for rugby. Professional rugby has turned it into a dangerous bull rush interrupted by annoying and sometimes incomprehensible rulings and delays. All Black coaching situation was easy to sort out. Rugby bosses can't get that right. They should have chased a recognised coach to hold the fort for the rest of the year.
