Chris Sutton issues emphatic FA Cup prediction regarding Burnley’s trip to Ipswich Town

Ipswich Town face a stern test this weekend as they return to FA Cup action against Burnley.

The Clarets lead the way in the Championship and saw off Premier League opposition Bournemouth in the third round to reach Saturday’s clash at Portman Road.

Ipswich face a promotion battle of their own with Kieran McKenna’s side 3rd in the League One table.

But this weekend they host an in-form Vincent Kompany team that is threatening to run away with the second division title.

Chris Sutton has predicted another comfortable afternoon for the visitors, claiming Burnley will win 4-0 this weekend.

While the BBC pundit has highlighted Ipswich’s good form at home this season, he has total faith in Kompany’s team to get the job done in a similar manner to how they have done throughout this campaign.

“Ipswich had had a big win over Morecambe in midweek and have only lost once at home in League One all season,” wrote Sutton, via the BBC.

“Burnley are on a different level at the moment, though.

“They are five points clear at the top of the Championship after winning eight league games in a row.

“They dismantled Premier League side Bournemouth in the last round, and I have a feeling they will do the same to Ipswich too.”

The winner will go straight into Monday night’s fifth round draw.

Replays are back this season, having been removed for the competition in 2022, meaning a tie will see a reverse fixture played within 10 days of the original meeting.

The Verdict

Ipswich will have to be at their very best to pull off an upset this weekend given Burnley’s form.

A 4-0 prediction makes it quite clear what Sutton thinks of the Clarets’ current form and it is difficult to disagree with his reasoning.

While neutrals will be hoping for a more even contest, this may prove to be one of the more one-sided games this weekend.

But McKenna’s side have done well to reach this stage of the competition and will have zero fear in taking on higher league opposition at home.
